Robert Frembling Robert Frembling - Director & Founder
BA Physical Education, San Francisco State University
MS Recreation Leisure Studies, San Francisco State University
Candidate in Philosophy, University of Minnesota

Robert spent 18 years as professor of Recreation and Leisure Studies at Biola University and California State University at Hayward. He served as interim director at camps Oakhurst and Sugar Pine, and director of Shiloh Ranch and JH Guest Ranch.

Robert founded Genesis Account in 1977 and has directed or assisted in directing the program since its inception. He loves to travel and has led tours to Europe. He also taught grades four-eight in California public schools. During his time working with YMCA camps and his experience in the Boy Scouts, he gained a love for the outdoors.

Heather Swan Heather Swan - Promotions Director

Heather has worked with several Christian camps and at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite in Fish Camp, California. She joined our staff to promote Genesis Account and American Outdoor Schools to schools and camps in Oregon, Washington, California and Arizona. She has also been on our teaching staff since Spring 2000.

Jim Sabedra Jim Sabedra - Instructor
Major in Zoology, Palomar Community College, San Marcos, CA

Jim worked with the Green Oak Ranch Nature Center for several years and has done extensive study in native California plants and animals. He joined the GA staff in Spring of 1992.

Cassandra Valencia Cassandra ValenciaInstructor

Cassandra moved into the San Bernardino National Forest at nine years old when her parents started their ministry at Mile High Pines Christian camp. When she was in 6th grade she attended GA's program and was absolutely convinced that outdoor education was an experience that every child should have. She has worked the last few years as a private tutor and at Mile High Pines while earning an undergraduate degree in Education. She joined the GA. Staff in the Fall of 2008.

D. J. Crider D. J. CriderInstructor

D. J. is Program Director and Registrar for Mile High Pines Camp, is certified in CPR and has his Red Cross Life Guard certificate. He has also had Ropes Course training and loves all sports. D. J. joined the GA staff in the Fall of 2008.

Gail Van Velzer Gail Van VelzerInstructor
B.A. in Christian Camping, Biola University, La Mirada, CA

Gail found her love of camping at Girl Scout camp in 1969.  She eventually went on staff for nearly 10 years, filling many positions from counselor to camp administrator.  She graduated from Biola University with a camp administration degree in the early 80's. After getting married and raising three sons, she found herself returning to camping and has been on the Genesis Account staff since 1977. She has also been involved in establishing a camp in Bolivia.

B.A. Liberal studies, Biola University, La Mirada, CA

I have worked for GA since Spring of 2008. I have also worked at Angeles Crest Christian Camp since 2003 where I met my husband, and where we now live. In the Winter of 2008 I became the WorkCrew program coordinator for the camp. I love God and the great outdoors and feel blessed to be working in a ministry that combines both."

Bethany GeraciInstructor

Bethany has worked as a summer camp counselor in Michigan. She comes with experience as a teacher's assistant in a multi-grade classroom. Bethany has a passion for working with kids and showing them God's love through nature. She grew up as the second oldest in a family with nine children.  Her teaching skills have been used also as a class instructor with Pathfinders.

Jonathan Geraci – Instructor
B.A. Adventure based Youth Leadership, Canadian University College, Lacombe, Alberta

Jonathan is a Wilderness EMT and has been a volunteer firefighter. His certifications include Project Wild, Project Learning Tree, and Kamana. Jonathan is an American Red Cross Instructor in Lifeguarding and Wilderness First Aid.   He has gone on several humanitarian service projects to Honduras, Mongolia, and Tanzania.

Melissa Eberly
B.A. Bible and Theology with an emphasis in Camping Ministry, Appalachian Bible College, Bradley, WV

Melissa has worked as an adventure guide for Rock-n-Water in Coloma, CA where she has gained experience and a growing passion for working in the oudoors with youth.  She also has experience as a living history guide where she teaches 4th graders about the CA gold rush.  She believes that adventures in the outdoors are an excellent avenue for challenging children to grow, change, and mature for the best.

Charles Welch

Charles worked ten years as the director and developer of the CORE Program at Wolf Mountain Christian Camp.  He is co-founder and director of the High Sierra Outdoor Schools program which is a part of Genesis Account American Outdoor Schools.  He has written outdoor education curriculum based on Intelligent Design Theory and a California gold country curriculum.
